Its been an interesting couple of weeks as part of the Fit for the Future network we helped set up a couple of years ago. Two weeks ago we put a call out to the membership of the network for help in our latest move into LED lighting. Namely re-bulbing the rest of NT Wales with LED. True to form the call was heard and a week later Euan from Northern Rail who are a member of the Fit for the Future network was over in Penrhyn Castle sharing his years of in-depth LED lighting experience of railway stations and listed buildings and contacts. Invaluable! Then a week later we had a Fit for the Future board meeting in Windsor Great Park which is cared for by the Crown Estate. we have these quarterly meetings looking at how have we done and how we are delivering our objectives. Before the meeting we had a look at the Crown Estates latest addition which is a 2MW wood chip biomass and 5 miles of heat network to the many cottages in the park. Stunning piece of holistic energy generation from managed forest .
The last few weeks have taught me of the value of experience and the fact that we must be true to the vision of the network. It’s at the coal face where we find the diamonds. These are hard-fought and gained through years of experience. I have said it before ‘policy which is not derived from practice’ is meaningless. We must leave others to preach. We must act and do stuff.
