Its been a whirlwind of a 5 days. Firstly we have almost reached a £100k of shares sold for the community hydros. (…and in only 5 days!) This is for two community hydros. A few of us in the National Trust have been supporting the projects as volunteers, share and learn. (it was nice the NT was thanked from the stage) More on that later. From filming on Friday night for the S4C news to the 7:30am BBC Wales Good Morning show to quite a few other radio shows, its been full on. The big day was Saturday. Two community Launches. In the morning it was the aptly named Electric Mountain building in Llanberis. We had over 120 people attend the Ynni Padarn Peris launch. The local AM Alun Fred Jones, The local choir and the community energy team plus Dave Hollins from the cooperative were there sharing. We saw the new film of the project, we talked benefit, ownership shares and technical hydro stuff was covered and then we were off. Cheques were flying in on the day and the microgenius share platform has been flying ever since.
In the afternoon I was over in Bethesda to be a part of the team launching the Ynni Ogwen share offer. Same sort of format to the 130 people in the audience (250 people combined is a good show) Again shares documents were flying out of the door as cheques were coming in. (LINK ) Since then we have been fielding questions from all over the country. Support has also been superb from Arloisi Gwynedd, Cooperative News, Welsh Cooperative Centre, Welsh Government Ynni Lleol, Microgenius, Cwmni Da and the list goes on. Twitter is flat-out and we’ve had a combined 10,000 views of the two films which is quite good considering that was the first day. We have another 55 days before the share offer closes… but it’s looking good. Have look!
