I think this is the longest I have not blogged and I can hear the sigh of relief across the country thanking for the peace and quiet. Its been two weeks of full on for both Paul and I. Paul is finishing off NT Dyffryn Garden PV, Heat pumps and Biomass. I am still working on how hydro fits in the new FITs. (looking better!) Its been full on sharing with the Ashden conference in London, Lecturing at the Cardiff School of Architecture over the weekend, Bangor University at Hafod y Llan, Welsh Government Smart Living Wales steering group and then community by community sharing. Lets just say its been a perfect storm.
On the community side its been all hands to the pumps on Cyd Ynni, Ynni Padarn Peris and Ynni Ogwen. We have had some excellent news on the Cyd Ynni front after receiving a significant grant from the Welsh Government funded Ynni Lleol scheme to pilot the virtual energy aggregation project in a large Welsh Community. (More to come…This could be a game changer for small energy generation… cross fingers) and thanks also to Arloisi Gwynedd for supporting development of the business plan and for supporting the upcoming distributed energy visit to the CARES conference in Scotland. (this bit alone deserves its own blog) #exciting!
But the big work of an evening has been the teams getting multiple business plans, capital costs and such like ready for the big launch this Saturday. Ynni Ogwen and Ynni Padarn Peris will be launching their share offers this weekend (Llanberis at Electric Mountain in Llanberis for 10am and Bethesda at Neuadd Ogwen 2pm) The two community groups are asking for three-quarters of a million pounds to develop their consented projects. We have two new websites hot off the shelf, posh prospectus (whats the multiple of prospectus?) and a social media storm developing. Multiple radio appliances are underway and planned, S4C news tomorrow night, regional press and so on. Twitter is going a bit mad (Ogwen and Llanberis) as well as Facebook and so on. I hope we are showing that community energy is not dead… not happy, but not dead! Oh and a big thank you to local company Megni for recently offering to install a new energy monitoring and sharing system at the Llanberis community hydro for free (Thanks Glyn and Trystan)
Lots of thanking today! Next week its NT Tredegar House and NT Pembrokeshire… I like!
