Government consultation after consultation but its good to see tangible renewable energy projects being delivered!

Shinny! the vision, drive and bloody mindedness of a team of dedicated community volunteers can do miraculous things... look its here in a vision of blue!

Raising my nose out of a spreadsheet and the latest report into what the future might or might not hold for us working at the sustainability coal face I popped over with Mr Southall to have a look at the renewable energy in tooth and claw. The first gem was the 50kw PV system in Bodnant Garden (more on this later by Paul) and then on the way back from Bodnant we popped in to see the results of the blood, sweat and tears oh and quite a bit of grit from the community which is the Anafon community hydro in Abergwyngregyn. Having been involved since its inception and still on the project team its good to see all the contracts, due diligence, feasibility, design drawings and such like turn into something very real. We popped into the turbine building (passing Scottish Power on the way who are installing the extra line in on the poles) to see something tangible which was more than another feasibility report. DECC feels a million miles away as does all the struggles when you see a nice new shiny turbine and power house nestling near a carb apple tree in the lee of a wooded slope. I know I have a problem with hydros (in a good way) but my shoulders did relax when I saw fruits of labour sitting there waiting to be let loose. Mr Southall said “you must be so proud” of working on this. I have thought about that and i think the thing I am proud of is working with and seeing a small dedicated community team (Jacqui, Gavin and Hywel) overcome incredible bureaucratic hurdles to turn many hopeless situations around when dealing with the might of many organisational inertia into a real community legacy

Mr Southall like shiny

Mr Southall like shiny community hydro

Nt has quite a bit of shoine in the area as well. The Bodnant Garden new PV solar array. cool or what?
