#COP21 playing our part. Climate change… what can we do. Going to Paris

Screen Shot 2015-10-12 at 22.33.20At the end of November and for the following week I will be going to Paris to take part in COP21 otherwise known as the Paris Climate Change talks. I will be one of 25,000 delegates from over 190 countries. The aim of the Paris talks will be to agree a legally binding agreement to keep climate warming to below 2c. Big stuff! Will we make a difference? Better to have a go than sit on our apathy?

I am there as part of the small group representing the 67 members of the International National Trust Organisation (INTO) from all over the world. I am there to give the National Trusts perspective of the work we have been doing to mitigate and adapt in terms of climate change.  (we can always do much more) I am also there in a personal capacity to be testament to what is happening. “Are we re arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic or will this be a meaningful long-term drive to save our skins but more importantly the future generations?” I have some presentations to share on what we have been doing, learning from others, forging partnerships and bringing something back I hope (solutions and hope that we can all play a part)

What do you want from Paris? What are you willing to do?

More to come

Personal perspective

I have a young family and I live in a special place. I want to look back in a few years time and don’t want to say “we should have…” I want to look back and say “we did…” I have just put my six-year-old to bed and lingered a bit longer than usual with him in his slumber. At the moment the future is a foreign land but I don’t want to spend his future on my short-term gain today. What are you going to do to make your special ones future a better place? THINK?

what future in a hot and resource strained world? PS Goat is not one of the family. I think?

Our Future. What future in a hot and resource strained world for my and every ones children? PS Goat is not one of the family. I think?

we want to avoid the Hollow men

….This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I hope you are taking the train! Enjoy! You’re lucky that buying local involves croissants there. Hope you can do some deep green talking.
