I spent a great couple of hours at Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw today. The purpose-built 150 year old gallery had asked the Fit for the future network members for some advice on relative humidity control and heating in one of their galleries. The mansion like gallery is next to one of the National Trust popular beach at Llanbedrog. Quick as a flash I had volunteered myself. The weather also played ball today. The gallery have an interesting challenge having recently accredited as a registered museum. They need to maintain a steady state RH level in one of their galleries. The National Trust have been developing their strategy over quite a few years and we had a chat with Iwan at the site. Although I was only there a couple of hours we did chat about the 20 years of NT experience in using heat and ventilation control to manage the internal environment. Next Monday and the order of magnitude of gallery changes as we share again. But its the same humidity challenge!
This was the drive on the way back to the office. Damn this autumn!
