Popped over the mountain today (weeell it was nice and sunny… i have been rained on enough to earn the right choose my days) The Hafod y Porth hydro is all go. There must have been 20 people on site today. Hydro suppliers, electricians, Scottish power, hydro installers. The hydrolite turbine arrived this morning and this afternoon the 1.2tonne turbine was sitting nicely in its place with all the steel penstock nice and tight having been bolted up. The weir is looking good with the level sensor installed this afternoon. Good to see the peaty water starting to discolour the concrete. Scottish power were going all guns blazing replacing, under grounding and powering up. The landscaping work by GH Jones on the pipe route is stunning. John the project manage and Rhys were up earlier in the week seeding the site… Its all go! Cross fingers and with a following wind, Thunderbirds will be go by the end of the month. Where did the last year go… again?

up on the mountain the weir is now blending in with its surroundings. Dave and Richard helping me...on this oh so sunny day!

Dave modeling our latest weir. This small weir will play its part in generating more energy than one of our mansions uses on average in a year.
