We have a BREEAM excellent visitor centre…and it was stunning over the weekend

NT Porth yr Swnt in the middle of Aberdaron village on the Llyn Peninsula. BREEAM visitor building

National Trust Porth yr Swnt in the middle of Aberdaron village on the Llyn Peninsula. Our first BREEAM visitor building

Sunday and the Jones family headed down on to the Llyn Peninsula or the lands end of Wales. There were some clouds over the mountains where I live but blue skies and miles of beaches on the Llyn. I was also there to see the new National Trust Porth y Swnt visitor centre in Aberdaron. This is the National Trust’s new hub for the spectacular Llyn area. I  may be wrong but this  is also one of the first BREEAM visitor buildings the NT have built. Thanks to funding from Visit Wales and Welsh Government we developed what we hope will be a valuable economic driver for the area, engagement asset and all round resource for locals and visitors a like. Although i didn’t have time to have a proper investigation Paul and I would like to have a proper look see at the underbelly of the building. Insulation, transport plan, 22kw ground source heat pump, LED and so on make up the building. We really understand the added value of a BREEAM approach to the building…more to come as ever
