National Trust’s latest hydro up and running

17kw bundle of joy. More to come!

17kw bundle of joy. More to come!

Small and perfectly formed the 17kw Turgo hydro is now finally up and running. We have had some challenges getting the grid in place. Invoices being sent to the National Trust Scotland and for some strange reason they would not pay for our hydro…!

But TGV hydro have done a superb job installing this latest in what we hope will be a long run of hydros. With a 4 to 5 year payback and a long life ahead of it.  This little micro hydro has an important job to do in both lowering our carbon emissions but also producing income for conservation work on Snowdon.

The Hydrolite turgo turbine was built in Swansea and as blogged earlier is a very simple, efficient and neat solution for this site. Now let it rain!
