Just after six this morning and i was down to the shores of the Menai Straits in front of Plas Newydd. Paul arrived home last night at 10:30 having been immersed in one of his projects (he has a blog brewing!) I arrived at the straits to see 12 students and lecturers hard at it. We have been working with the School of Oceanographic Science for a couple of years now. The Welsh Government funded SEACAMS project has been helping us with the environmental sciences side of the Marine Source Heat pump at Plas Newydd. This morning they were out in force to set a very detailed base line survey in place in order that we can monitor what the Marine Source heat pump is doing in this watery environment but also what the environment is doing to the heat pump. The work is way beyond what you would normally do but both organisations see this as a unique opportunity to both further research in marine based renewable energy but also to share their findings to help others consider this technology. We have an MSc student working on setting up the project and hopefully we will see quite a few more of them as the years role by so that we can learn and share as much as we can from this emerging technology. Oh and they had a kite!
