Am I soggy or just a bit damp? (I have levels of being wet). It must be hydros again!

Today and it was a good tour of N West Wales with my colleague Mike to have a look at the past, present and could be in our hydro arsenal. Its a bit damp out there with plenty of hydro fuel falling out of the air. One of the fist sites was to see the progress on the 100kw Craflwyn hydro on Afon y Cwm. It was good to see that GH Jones the civils contractor had already navigated a way through the testing lower section and had a new / temporary track up to meet the old copper mine rack higher up. This new track has now  been completed (not without its challenges) but at least one of the unknowns have been ticked off. Until you peel back the skin off the  soil you don’t know what to expect. Easy digging or half a mile of quartz encrusted granite… a peckers grave yard. The final detailed designs are being finalised and logistics of doing are being discussed in minute detail…but it all seems like deja vu…again! I’m sure I have seen that pecker before on a near by mountain. The pegged out power house is quite a bit smaller than Hafod y Llan (but it is a sixth of the size) Oh well lets crack on.

The heavy oak duckboards have come into their own on the wetter pasture near the power house.

The stone ripper and the pecker have done their job at the lower section
