Last night and I was again over in Hafod y Llan. The NT is part if the Anafon community hydro team and we had invited members of the community of Abergwyngregyn to see what could be ahead of them. Hopefully they will soon be the proud owners of a community hydro in 18 months. 20 or so people turned out last night for a nice stroll and chat up to the weir on Snowdon. The feedback has been very good especially on the impact aspect i.e. the lack of it and the level of mitigation work conducted here.  The purpose of the evening was to show a hydro mid install and what was involved. A lot of the lessons from Hafod y Llan are already being designed into the Anafon community hydro proposal. It’s getting greener up there especially with the pipe route disappearing into the landscape

…and some more structure. The walls are being built and the building frame is taking shape. Nothing beats seeing the process of building. The feedback from the community members was very positive.

The turbine building structure is reaching higher and higher. Oak, steel and walls are all now defining the form of the building. Alan from GH Jones the skilled civil engineering company developing the site said that there had recently been an unexpected event! The bespoke ridge beam had been sent to the galvanisers. All was well until the galvanisers put the put the beam on the wrong lorry. It is currently in the Isle of Man! Should be back in Snowdonia on Tuesday. Oh well!
