NT Stackpole getting greener

Short evening walk down to Broadhaven beach just down the Bosherston lakes from Stackpole

The NT Stackpole centre in stunning Pembrokeshire was the site of the Jones family holiday (for the 5th year running!) Access to Pembrokeshire and with two sandy beaches within walking distance its a nice place to stay. But the site is so much more than a nice place to stay. From a bus man’s holiday perspective I had not stayed there since is 360kw wood chip biomass went in (was previously the single largest LPG user in the NT). It also has the largest solar thermal system in the National Trust and it was good to see the new electric vehicle charging point. Whats next for the site? Electricity is still a big carbon emitter and cash consumer. We need to continue with the efficiency push but this site lends itself well to a 50kw PV system? (I wonder?)

No this is not the medeterainian but one of the courtyards at Stackpole. Solar thermal system working with the biomass in the background

From a job front  it’s also one of the first sites in the NT to claim renewable heat incentive payments. ‘Interesting’!!! process Ofgem have there on sites with district heating.

Nice to see in the car park at Stackpole. One of the chain of systems we installed across Wales. Still more to do

Lots of nice accessible south facing roofs. Good grid connection. I wonder on a PV system? Would have a big impact on the electricity use of the site!
