Paul and I were over at NT Aberdulais in South Wales last week. We were there finalising the details for the big turbine overhaul. I think its simpler building a new hydro rather than overhauling a  20-year-old 238kw Flyte turbine…especially where it’s located. You try taking a 15t crane into a gorge that just happens to be a scheduled ancient monument. Oh yes and this is the only turbine of its type in Britain. It will be interesting seeing the beast come out of its lair in the coming months and getting it back to generate its 550MWh pa. Much more to come on this. It’s not boring on the environmental front!

Mr Southall and the wheel.
