The Anafon community hydro at Abergwyngregyn in Snowdonia is now accelerating in activity (and some!) Last night and it was all hands to the pump to move the project from feasibility to actual. With the looming 20% FIT cut less than 10 months away and the need to pre register before Dec this year. We all have quite a bit of ground to cover.
Last night it was a meeting with a consultant from the Cooperative Enterprise Hub . He was in Abergwyngregyn to help the community discuss and develop a company structure for the project. It basically boiled down to two main choices. Bring the project into the existing community company or create a Special purpose Vehicle (SPV) to de-risk the community and its current assets should the project have issues esp during the development stage. This is a choice for the community. 4 days of consultancy time have been provided by Coop UK under their Enterprise Hub program.
We are also full kilter with abstraction licences (submitted last week) and brining the full planning application together. Not a simple affair when some of the statutory bodies involved are sending out conflicting messages. But it will all come out in the wash…more on this frustration later
Overall looking good for the hydro but there is a mountain of work ahead of us all. This includes a full community consultation tomorrow night. Photomontages and maps together with presentations to hand. It’s now very real!
