As blogged earlier here is the first result of our foray in engaging renewable energy and energy efficiency in a new way. Working with the students of Coleg Menai a similar exercise is also happening at the Hafod y Llan hydro site on Snowdon
The majestic music room at Plas Newydd on Anglesey is now hosting a stunning art exhibition from a 140 students from the highly respected art department at Coleg Menai near Bangor. The National Trust set the students a challenge to try to engage people in the energy work of the National Trust though the medium of art. The challenge was to both inspire through the students skills but also engage and relate our energy work so that people will think about their own relationship with energy. The discovery challenge focuses around the thought of ‘if the National Trust can then anyone can’
All too often the National Trusts energy successes are buried deep within our stunning landscapes and buildings. The medium of art was chosen to shine a light on this groundbreaking work. The exhibition will also be used to tour around some of the mansions in Wales and beyond. We also hope that this is the start of a long-term collaboration between the National Trust and the highly acclaimed art department in the college. If you have time please visit Plas Newydd to view the students work…you wont be disappointed!
