Getting the farm fit for the future – progress on the energy front

Paul and i spent the morning with Carl looking at the potential at the Llyndu farm over the valley from Hafod y Llan. Looks like we have the makings of a 10kw PV but time will tell. Not the best site in the world with the mountain looming not far away but lets see what the data looks like. Then over to Hafod y llan farmhouse to see progress on the secondary glazing being installed. We have been impressed with the quality and value for money of the aluminum framed windows. Next on to see what power generation we could consider for the house? Looks like a Consolar PV system in the front garden. This should give us the clearance from the trees but also the ground mounting will be low enough not to impact the house visually. We probably need planning for any meaningful install. lets talk to the planners

Current and the shape of things to come in farm vehicles. Landrover an ideal tool but diesel getting more and more expensive and as for the carbon emissions...!

I have to say the electric van has settled in well in the farm (its being used often enough) I really like the juxtaposition with the Landrover – signs of things to come?

we have been in discussions with a pellet range cooker supplier for a direct replacement for the farms expensive to run oil rayburn. I am off to see a pellet system being used in anger in a couple of weeks. Hoping it will do the trick in Arwyn’s kitchen as well as an additional induction hob. lets see?
