Today the Ashden Award announced the finalists for the highly prestigious award. The National Trust ‘Fit for the Future’ programme has reached the final 8 and with 5 awards we are crossing our fingers. Each award winner will not only receive a lot of support for future development but also a £10k prize to assist with the future development of their sustainable energy approach.
the finalists are a good cross-section of energy approaches from the clear, cost-effective approach to hydro development by Ellergreen through to Perdiswell Primary school who are tackling stretching energy efficiency programme.
The primary aim of the ‘fit for the future’ program has been to radically change the National Trusts reliance on fossil fuel, deliver some tough efficiency targets and demonstrate that you can do an awful lot with some of the most designated, fragile and precious buildings and landscapes in the land dispelling the ‘you can’t do that myth’ – you can always do something!
