Now that the Wales pv project is in the “tidy up” phase, Keith and I have started to plan the next steps in our energy efficiency work across Wales.
Granted this is often thought of as the “none sexy” stuff, but as they say –
“Take care of the pennies, and the pounds take care of themselves”
I personally regard this efficiency work as the really clever stuff, which brings together all of the research, technologies and most important of all, the continued fantastic committment of staff and volunteers, in order to understand, manage and improve our environmental impacts.
Over the last couple of years we have trialled a wide ranging selection of approaches and technology at our properties –
We have monitored the “before and after” energy usage via the AMR “Smart meters” incorporated to ensure that we achieve the expected performance.
This coming year will see all of our properties re-reviewed to assess further opportunities for improvement, with a programme of training taking place (based on what staff and volunteers actually want!).
Not sexy, but a practical, common sense, stepped approach to continual improvement!
