Waiting for winter – let’s see if our CO2 heat pump is up for the job!

We now have all of the CO2 heat pumps installed. ( see previous blogs) This new generation air source heat pumps can operate efficiently at higher flow temperatures (allegedly). The reason for the trial like the previous test of the pellet range cooker is to find economical and workable alternatives to retro fit on oil and LPG based heating systems ( bolt straight on to the system) the question with this system ‘will the lower flow temp produced by a heat pump still heat the building?’ (Esp if we get the el Nina driven winter we are predicted to get) this system will produce 60c + flow temp ( which means no immersion for legionalla protection) but will it do it efficiently? The pump is really quiet. Can you spot what’s missing in this picture? A really big oil tank is no longer at Craflwyn – has been replaced with one of these pumps
