We are now the proud drivers of a small fleet of electric vehicles. Renault have kindly given us two vans and two cars for the next 4 months to ‘have a go’ and see if they work with the way we work or do we need to change. Travelling less being the really clever approach. Liz and I went out in the Renault Fluence this afternoon. First impression – really really nice car. Second impression weirdly quiet but I suppose this is only a mater of getting used to it. The Kangoo van arrived at Hafod y Llan this morning. (we did ask if we could put stock in the back and no problem – will send an image!) Another van at Llanerchaeron tomorrow as well as another Fluence at Dinefwr.
The network of electric vehicle charging points we are installing are also nearly completed. Couple more weeks and we have a nice daisy chain of chargers across the 4 corners of Wales. Thanks to Zero Carbon world for kindly donating the chargers and organising their installation. The map below shows where we are installing charging points across Wales. Lets see how it goes! When completed these will be added to the UK EV charging maps

Greta news Keith. Wow that is a big electric car! I’ll be really interested to hear how things go.
Nice is the first impression. Looking to see how the ‘practical’ impression lines up!
We can do much better with getting more EV’s on the road, one example is the open source design at http://www.indiegogo.com/zwheelz
EV car is the future. Inevitable.
Lets hope so. The clever stuff is not traveling. But if you have to then EVs fit the bill. Some way to go in terms of range but I’m sure model T ford had some development issues esp when only pharmacists sold the fuel!
Reblogged this on SMIPP Ltd. and commented:
